Welcome back to school and Happy New Year.
I would like to begin by thanking you all for the many gifts I received last term. Your generosity is truly overwhelming.
The governing body wrote to inform you that they would like to consult on a proposal for Eastfield Primary School to convert to become an academy and join the Ivy Learning Trust. Ivy is a small multi-academy trust formed in September 2017 and consisting of two local primary schools: Brimsdown and Lavender, with a third school, Churchfield, due to join in early 2018. The governing body believe that joining the Ivy Learning Trust is the best way to achieve a secure future for our school. You were directed to
in order to acquire further details of the trust. I hope you have had a chance to do that over the holiday period.
I would like to share my view on this exciting venture. The main reason we have chosen The Ivy Trust is because they, like us, share the same vision, values and principles; mainly putting the children, their safety, their needs and their wellbeing at the heart of everything they do. Additionally, and a key fact that attracted me personally, is that nothing will change. Our school will still be led in the same way it has been for almost five years now, since I took on headship mid 2013. You will not notice a difference in the way the school is run. There are many benefits to joining such a trust, they are all listed in the briefing paper. One main advantage for us is that fact that it will give us greater financial stability. Our budget has gradually diminished yet our costs continue to escalate. It is becoming extremely challenging to meet the needs of our community. In order to continue to improve our children’s life chances I feel this is a sensible way of achieving this.
The consultation has already begun and will end on 9th February 2018.
We have two meetings for you to attend and ask questions:
Wednesday 17th January 2018 at 6:30pm
Thursday 18th January 2018 at 9:00am
There will be a separate meeting for staff next week whereby they too will be able to ask questions.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support. Together we are great. Together we rock!
Happy Spring Term!
