Eastfield’s Book Day
We had a fantastic day today celebrating our love of reading. By reading, we are exposed to so many wonderful things. This helps our imagination when it comes to creating and thinking. By reading, we are painting those pictures of the story in our mind. Books can take us anywhere we want to go. This became a reality today when we were taken to Narnia, Hogwarts, The Tudor Times, The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party but to name a few of our destinations that we were transported to!
Mrs Spence did a wonderful job of organising such a great day. The ability to read is the key to every child’s success at school and beyond. We have been focussing on reading and comprehension to support the children’s learning, as well as encouraging reading for pleasure amongst our children this year. Our “Book Day” was a great way to celebrate our learning as well as love of reading. It is important that you too encourage your children to read; that you find opportunities to read to your children and that you talk about what has happened and about what you think together.
Further information about how to support your children to develop a love of reading can be found here:
The girls played another netball match today, against a local primary school and won with a 24:0 outcome! What an amazing result. Well done girls!
International Food Day
A big thank you to our great kitchen staff who presented the children with a variety of meals this week to celebrate International food.
See you all on Monday!
