Today the school is a rather silent place. For the first time in several years, Eastfield had to close today. The snow showers that commenced on Wednesday did not prevent us staying open on that day. Indeed, we continued to remain open on Thursday too.
We took advantage of this extraordinary weather and allowed classes to take short breaks in order to have some great outdoor learning experiences. Yet with the severity of the rapidly decreasing temperatures, the site entrance and access to our school from the surrounding roads gradually became frozen, icy and extremely dangerous; hence my decision to close today.
Thank you to our brilliant staff who ensured all pupils remained safe at school. It was wonderful to see them enjoying the snow at break before they left; this will be a long lasting memory.
Our pupils were a real credit to us and to themselves. Thanks also to all parents and carers for your support.
We will re-open and get back to normal on Monday 5 March.
