Parliament Week 2018
In my Headteacher blog this week I would like to celebrate democracy at Eastfield Primary School.
It is the first time we held a ‘Parliament Week’ and it certainly won’t be the last. Children from EYFS right the way through to Year 6 took part in the week. There were many activities and opportunities for super learning. History kicked started the week as we looked back in time to when voting began and how it has evolved to be far more inclusive and fair.
The week ended with the results of our in-house voting. Our hall magically transformed into a polling station. All the pupils at our school placed their vote in the ballot box. They had two options, to vote for a new climbing wall or for two outdoor table tennis tables for our playground. The tables tennis tables won! Here are a few snippets from our week….
The Felix Project
Gill Corlett from The Felix project came to lead an assembly this week. The Felix Project collects fresh, nutritious food that cannot be sold. They deliver this surplus food to charities and schools, so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society. It was a pleasure welcoming Gill to share the purpose of The Felix Project.
